A lot of websites are international in scope and gain revenue from various countries around the world, such is the nature of the internet. A hot political topic in many countries at the moment is whether revenue earned by a company should be taxed as a corporation in the country the revenue is sourced from. In the present economic environment this topic has come in for special attention as many companies now utilize existing rules to be taxed as a corporation in countries where little if any corporation tax is paid.

The actual question is simple, 'should companies, businesses, corporations be taxed in the country they earn revenue from?'

The question may be simple but the answer most definitely is not. There are so many factors to consider that it becomes a quagmire both politically and economically, the result though will undoubtedly affect the whole nature of website business as well as multi-national corporations on Main Street. Of course a side issue would be what would happen to the economies of the countries that would lose out, colloquially referred to as 'tax havens'?
